Productivity

Rise and Grind

It’s Sunday evening, you feel that impending dread of Monday looming before you. Work life, school life, expectations to be hyper productive, everything is coming to a head as the weekend slips away, and you feel that weight on your mind.

Catch your breath, take a minute and regroup.

Monday’s don’t have to be the worst day of the week for you, the dreaded beginning of the week that lets you down for the days to come. Let’s talk about how you can take on your Monday’s with promise.

1. Weekend Prep

Start your Monday right by getting legwork done over the weekend. If you’re working outside of the home this can include organising meetings, working on deadlines for the week ahead, prepping meals, and generally taking care of as many tasks as you can before jumping into the start of the week.

If you’re running a busy household, particularly with small children, use a portion of your weekend to organise meals, events, school work, and again deadlines before Monday rolls around. You’re setting yourself up for success in advance.

2. Self Care

Begin Monday with an act of self love that is yours, and yours alone. Yoga, meditation, a workout, a journaling session, reading a few pages of your current book, watching your favourite YouTuber, listening to a podcast, praying; the list of options is limitless. It doesn’t have to be hugely time consuming, simply something that is yours.

3. Sleep Early

Playing sleep catch up is never a good idea, and starting off the week with low sleep hours, jumping in tired; you’re not setting yourself up for success and that’s the goal. Use Friday and Saturday evenings to party it up, enjoy that late night if you must, but allow your Sunday night to wrap up early, giving your Monday the positive vibe that you need.

4. Allow Rest

Weekends are a great way to celebrate life, but they are also a much needed opportunity for downtime. If you jam pack your weekends with so much activity that you allow yourself little time to recover from the busy week, and to prepare for the week to come, you will go into your Monday feeling frustrated. Take breaks, recognise your limits and know when to say no.

5. Use Quotes

It may seem cheesy, but sometimes turning to the Motivational Monday content littered across Pinterest and other social media platforms may just be what you need to get a nudge into loving Mondays. Manifestation is a very valid reality and having positive content around Monday within reach may encourage you to celebrate this day rather than run from it.

6. New Beginning

Most Monday lovers are fuelled by the fact that Monday allows them a new beginning in the midst of life. During their current year, month, or chaotic season a Monday is their chance to start fresh. They embrace it as an opportunity rather than a source of pressure and that outlook can help make or break the first day of the week.

7. Take Action

If your Monday is not serving you properly, then you need to think about why. Don’t simply write the day off because it doesn’t work for you; look at all the issues that may be holding you back from fully embracing this useful new beginning and rectify them. Don’t tackle everything all at once, but one at a time overcome those obstacles.

That’s about the sum of it; just a few ideas to allow you to celebrate your Mondays rather than see them as burden. A productive and meaningful start to the week can set the tone for what lies ahead.
